Okay, not calmly.

So exciting! This is my 4th year, and I can only say I hope it goes on for many, many more. Thank you for writing my story, once again. I can't wait to read it! Optional details are optional! But I'd like to make some requests anyway. :)
In General: Don't worry; I think I'm easy to please. My biggest request is that you please don't write a Christmas-themed story. That would bring me down in a massive way. I'd also like to avoid character death, things like rape, betrayal, and extreme things that aren't all that common. I doubt I need to list them. If you have to wonder if it's too much for me, it probably is. I also occasionally write something really cracky, but would prefer not to get a crack story for Yuletide. Humor within a story is great when it fits, though!
In relationship stories, I really enjoy the buildup, the anticipation, the UST and the newness of it all, with or without an iota of actual sex. I generally prefer slash to het, except in a few fandoms. And even in those fandoms, I'm not above reading a good slash story with recognizable characters (meaning it's not just a porn story that you could plug anybody's names into and have the same story), even if I don't particularly see that pairing. I love men who love each other, whether that's a full-on romantic and sexual relationship, or a deeply caring friendship. Both make me happy, so don't think that I need heavy romance, NC-17 smut or slash to love your story--PG rated stories are perfectly fine if that's what you're most comfortable writing, I promise!
On to the requests, no particular order!
Lawrence of Arabia (1962) (Sherif Ali, T. E. Lawrence)
My prompt: These two men deeply love each other, full stop. Their relationship is one of my favorite film relationships of all time. I'd love a story true to the movie, and please no explicit sex. Implied slash is lovely, but loving friendship is perfectly fine if you're uncomfortable with any other tension between them. My favorite moments are when Ali's view of Lawrence shifts and he's suddenly protective of him, and later when he's taking care of him and almost worshipping him at the same time that he both wants the man to lead and yet wants to fiercely shelter him from everything.
Ali's thoughts on meeting Lawrence for the first time, his thoughts when he stopped calling him English for Aurens instead, taking care of him after the Turkish captain, even in the end of the film, would be great. Or show us Ali from Lawrence's point of view during any of those times, or any point during the film. Give them a moment alone and share that, or focus on a less heavy moment, such as when they're working together in perfect sync to convince someone of their plans, or when Ali is practically rolling his eyes and asking God to be patient with Aurens. You can't go wrong here. (Probably goes without saying for this fandom and if you've read the other prompts, but nothing Christmassy, please and thanks!)
I fit pretty much everything into the prompt. I just love them together, I love their dynamic through the movie, and they break my heart over and over again every time. I've requested this all 4 years (gotten two fantastic stories), but feel like there can never been enough Aurens/Ali. I didn't write a letter my first year (silly me!), but I did the last two, and requested LoA in both. And in fact, just pasted what I wrote in my 2009 letter into the one last year. If you're interested: 2010 letter. Naturally, it all still applies.
Fantasy Island (Mr. Roarke, The Devil)
My prompt: I'd love a story that explores the sinister a little bit and delves into the darker side of the show with Roarke at the center. I loved the episodes with Roddy McDowall as the devil, trying to get Roarke's soul. Who is Roarke? How is it that he seems omnipotent? Why does he do it, or what force is behind it? As a kid, I WANTED there to be dark forces involved somehow, either powering things or fighting them. It's perfectly fine not to answer those questions, but a darkish tale that doesn't shy away from the mysterious and potentially sinister side of the show would be fantastic! Please, no Christmas themes.
I've always thought Ricardo Montalban was incredibly sexy. I have fond memories of Saturday nights when I was a kid, alone in my room with a little black and white TV. Love Boat was fine, but Fantasy Island--whoa! So potentially dark, so mysterious, with Roarke so darn sexy! My favorite episodes were the darker ones. I loved Roddy McDowall as the Devil, the Mermaid Nyah and her attempted seduction of Roarke, as well as his hints that they'd "battled" many times before. All that hinted at things they never really delved into. The ghosts and the episode with the actor who was in a Dorian Gray-like painting and staying young thanks to a deal with "the Great God Pan" (someone didn't know Paganism very well) were more good, dark segments.
I don't care if you mention Tattoo or if he figures into the story (as long as he's not treated like a slow child as so often happened in the show), but I'd rather keep the true focus on Roarke. I hoped anyone offering would know it wasn't a light-hearted story request by the characters I nominated, but if that's what you expected and don't really feel you can do a darker story, just write your story. If you're a slash writer and that's what you were most hoping for, a little tension between Roarke and the Devil would be pretty awesome. I don't think I'd want it to go much beyond that, frankly, but tension and menace are okay with me. If you'd rather not, that's fine, too! I did request McDowall's Devil, but if you really have trouble coming up with something he's in, then it's okay not to include him at all. I'll love reading Roarke, period!
Touching Evil (US) (David Creegan, Susan Branca, Cyril Kemp)
My prompt: I would LOVE a story in which Cyril is content and okay, maybe even happy, even though he can't get back to Alpha 9. It doesn't have to be centered around him, but he should just be content by the end of it. As far as David and Susan go, it can stay platonic with UST or go farther, I'm easy there.
I love the whole show, so anything from casefic to something dark to them having dinner together with nothing more than snarky yet affectionate conversation will make me happy! Though, please, no Christmas themes.
One short season just wasn't enough! Stupid network! I love David's ability to be completely goofy yet deadly serious at almost the same time, and Susan's calm presence against his sometimes manic behavior and way of thinking. And I love Cyril and his friendship with David. This is one of my rare het fandoms. I like David/Susan a lot, even if it's in that UST want-to-but-don't way. Maybe even best that way. I just love them together as friends, partners and whatever else you want to write.
I chose Cyril, as well, because I'd love for him to figure in somehow, and maybe be settled with the idea he can't get home. A story in which they're all together doing something and Susan has to try to follow two brains that take the road less traveled by, that would be cool. But if that's kind of tough, just mention Cyril in passing and focus on Susan and David (or focus on David and Cyril's friendship). Another idea might be Cyril playing matchmaker, or even sort of crushing on Susan. David's reactions to either of those could be interesting. ETA: If you prefer slash in this fandom and we matched on it, go for it. I didn't request Mark, but feel free to write David/Mark if that's what inspires you here--you can't go wrong. I'd still love to get Cyril in there somehow, regardless of whom you put David with, if you do. :)
Anything you're moved to write will make me happy, because I simply loved the show and the characters. And even though they're not officially requested, feel free to throw in any other characters you want if that's the way your story goes. (Edited: I know his name is Mark, not Mike. Sometimes the fingers and the brain are not in sync!) Mark, Jay and the rest of the OSC are certainly welcome, but don't feel you have to add them.
American Gothic (Lucas Buck, Gail Emory)
My prompt: I love Lucas and Gail, both in how complicated it all is, how she rails against it but can't resist him, and how everything's just twisted and wrong yet so very, very right.
There's no need for sex unless you want to go there (which would be fine!), because I can enjoy the whole cat and mouse thing they had going, too. Anything with Lucas being his bad self will make me happy, whether he's handing out a bit of justice, pursuing Gail, or just even thinking about Trinity or any of the people in it. You really can't go wrong with Lucas Buck, Buck with a B, as far as I'm concerned. Please, no Christmas themes.
Oh, I love Lucas Buck. He's evil and horrible, and I have a terrible thing for him. This is another one of my rare het fandoms. I like Lucas rescuing Gail, Lucas trying to seduce Gail (and maybe almost succeeding, or succeeding if you want!), Lucas doing everything he can to win her over. I really like hurt/comfort with Lucas and Gail, either direction. I like it that she wants him so much and knows she shouldn't, but can't really resist.
Feel free to include Ben and/or Caleb if you want to. Lucas' relationships with them were just as screwed up as every other, so there's good story fodder there. I was never as wild about Selena or Meryln, so if you do include them, please keep them in minor roles. Matt's fine as a kind of "good guy" influence, but I don't want to the story to spend too much time on him if you choose to include him. I don't expect you to include any extra characters, by the way, but if you want to include them, please do so. If you don't like het, write a menacing story about Lucas and whomever else you want to include. Just keep the story centered around Lucas in some way and I know I'll enjoy it!
I requested this in 2009 and a got a fun story. Here's what I wrote then: 2009 letter. And yep, still applies.
All my fiction is at The Silver Stake, including the stories I've written for past Yuletides, if you want to poke around.
And optional details are optional! As long as you enjoy writing it, I'm sure I'll enjoy reading it. Please don't be intimidated by how much I've written here. I just love Yuletide and enjoy reading the letter of my intended recipients, and usually wish they'd offer more, so I guess I compensate by doing just that! I will love a story you write me in any one of these fandoms, I promise, even if I've written longer about one than the other. I realize I've given a lot of options, even to write things I didn't request. I hope that helps and doesn't make it harder to decide what to do.
Most importantly, have fun writing the story. I hope you have as much fun writing is as I know I will reading it!
